We had decided to attend the shopping seminar early this morning, but slept in. One thing about having an inside cabin is that there are no windows. One has no idea of the time unless you have a clock to look at. There is no dark or light to see so 6 AM or 9 AM look the same, dark.

Any way, we did make it to the seminar, but without breakfast. Actually, that is not a problem on the ship. Miss a meal and you can make up for it later, any time at all. There is always good food to be found someplace on board. As I said, we did get there and learned all the best places to buy diamonds and other precious stones or fine watches ashore. Diane also won a strand of pearls. Somebody else claimed them, but we are sure that Diane will eventually get them. (9 Feb.: she did)

The rest of the day was spent luxuriating around the pool and getting a sunburn. The weather here en-route to Jamaica is around 25ยบ C and sunny. We love it.

Tonight was the Meet the Captain night, meaning we had to dress up for dinner. I found it warm with my suit on but Diane was beautiful in her dress, and it was nice to wear a suit since I do it so seldom. As it turned out, we didn’t actually meet the captain directly, but he appeared on stage and gave a little talk and introduced all the senior ship’s officers.

Then it was time for the big Broadway type show at La Scala Theatre. The ship’s singers and dancers presented a high energy show of tunes from Ellington, Webber, Sondheim & others. It was excellently done, but for my liking, a little too loud.

By that time, both of us were pretty well done in so retired to our cabin for the night.
