Day 2 – Sun, Feb 3 Texas

First lunch at the Windjammer Cafe - Diane
Carnival Conquest just forward of us in Galveston

After a very restless night, we were up and showered and ready to meet the RCCL representative at 9 AM. His name was John and he listened patiently as Diane poured out our story. He assured us he would do everything in his power to set things right. Very soon he had our hotel reservation fixed up, so we would have a place to stay after the cruise was finished. Diane also called American Airlines again, but there was still no word about our missing suitcase. John arranged for us to see RCCL’s port manager at the port of Galveston when we arrived there to board.

After the long ride to the pier, we cleared security and asked for our contact, Mark. He was already aware of our situation and needed to confirm a couple of details with us. He seemed to have a great many things on the go at the time, but with a few phone calls, he had our hotel stay changed to Galveston and transportation arranged to the airport after our stay. He was amazing.

By about 1300, we were finally aboard the Voyager of the Seas. We couldn’t go to our cabin yet so we explored a little and went to the Windjammer Buffet for lunch. Then we found our cabin and relaxed a bit.

There is a shopping area called the Royal Promenade. We went there for a raffle. We didn’t win anything, but enjoyed seeing the interesting shops in that area. One in particular appealed to me, the Pig & Whistle Pub which specializes in British brews.

When we returned to our cabin, there was our lost suitcase sitting in front of our door. Wasn’t that a wonderful surprise. Now we can truly enjoy our cruise.

By this time, it was time for supper at the La Bohême dining room where we enjoyed a wonderful meal and met our table-mates, two nice couples from Texas.

Then we enjoyed a show at the Scala theatre before returning to our cab in to retire for the night.
